Valencia, the city in Spain has many tourist spots wherein the atmosphere is warm and friendly for the visiting tourists. In this city there is a place called arts and science complex. L'Hemisferic is a part of the complex. L'Hemisferic or the Hemisferic is situated in between the palace of arts building and the science museum. It is situated on a rectangular plot. The plot area is about 200x1300 meters.
L'Hemisferic is a planetarium with two rectangular ponds are on the north and the south side of this building. Because of the ponds on either side, it looks as if the building is emerging out of the water. The opaque roof, the mobile sunshades and the lateral gates look like a giant shell. The building consists of three differentiated volumes.
On the east end you will find the offices and shops. The cafeteria is on the level 11. The first basement is below the ground level. Generators, filtering equipment, pumps and emergency services are at the west end at the first basement level.
The projection system in this planetarium is controlled by the computers. The effect is marvelous. The sky and the planets look very sharp on the surface. The expanse is 24 meters in diameters and the images are at 30 degree angle. The spectator feels as if he is transported in the Galaxy.
L'Hemisferic has an IMAX theatre as well. The design looks like an eye. The IMAX cover looks like the eye lips that can be opened and closed. The designer, Santiago Calatrava has designed a truly magnificent building. L'Hemisferic is one of the,' to do' things in Valencia, truly spectacular.
There is an entry fee and the shows are at regular intervals.
