  • The Yala National Park is situated 309 kilometers south of Colombo. The Yala National Park is located in the south eastern corner of the island. The northern boundary of this park is a border on the Lahugala Elephant Sanctuary. It is the second largest national Park of the country with an area of 97,878 hectares. In the Yala National Park you can watch and take photographs of wide range of wild animals including elephants, leopard, bear, sambur, spotted deer and a variety of birds including the jungle fowl and the peacock.

  • In the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage you will find elephants of all ages that have been abandoned, injured or too old to feed themselves. In this place you can even feed the baby elephants with bottles of milk during the feeding times. The elephants are also given a bath daily in a river located across the orphanage.

  • Uda Walawe is located near the Embilipitiya. The popular Uda Walawe National Park measuring 30,821 hectares is famous for its large herds of wild elephant.

  • The Aviafauna in Sri Lanka has a wide range of both resident and migratory birds that arrive from far away lands to their favourite roosting places in the Island. The most popular bird sanctuaries are the Kumana, Bundala National Park, Wirawila and Udawattakele.
