Häckeberga and Häckebergasjön is one of the most popular of the sightseeing spots in Lund. A rolling landscape of lakes and hills characterizes the striking area of Häckeberga. The northern part of the area was set aside as a nature reserve in to protect the ravines of Romeleåsen in the year 1976. The remaining areas were declared conservation areas in 1982 because of the varied landscapes and the rich flora and fauna in the area.

The place is also renowned for its red and fallow deer, and one of autumn’s most fascinating experiences is the bellowing of the red deer in September and October. The bird life is also impressive and you can see the various species of birds like sea eagles and golden eagle, heron, raven, kite, buzzard and honey buzzard. Häckeberga is situated in one of Häckeberga Lake´s seven islets, and is beautifully bordered by the lakes waters and inlets full of water lilies.

The Billebjer which is an extension of Romeleåsen is a yet another important area where you can head to while going on excursions in Lund. The top of the mountain offers a wonderful view of the surrounding farmlands. There is an abandoned, water-filled quarry which is now a popular swimming pool. The Broad-leefs woodlands grow on and around the slopes of this nature reserve which makes the place all the more striking to look at. The flora in the region includes more than 300 species. Some of the interesting among them includes pasques flower, Danzig vetch, crimson cranebill, dark mullein, wild thyme and borage.

Dalby hage is also an interesting place to see in Lund. It consists of two woodland areas separated by pastureland. The southern forest is a national park and the northern forest is a nature reserve. The spring flowering is excellent, with yellow corydalis and wood and yellow anemones. In the summer, the dominant flowers are dog´s mercury and ground elder. The bird life in Dalby hage is also wonderful and it includes warblers, pied flycatchers and thrushes. The dominant broad-leaf trees are ash and elm, with a good number of beech and oak.
