The first among the things to do in T'ai-nan is indulging in a hot spring vacation. Guanzihling Hot Spring in T'ai-nan is a famous hot spring area in Taiwan. The spring includes alkaline carbonate and other minerals which help cure various skin diseases.

Black-faced spoonbills are one of the important sightseeing attractions of T'ai-nan. Watching these birds, who got their name from their black beak is another important one among the list of things to do in T'ai-nan. These birds come to T'ai-nan in September and return to their breeding places in March. T'ai-nan is a city of many festivals. However, the most important one is the Lantern Festival that is a part of the Chinese New Year. It is regarded as the world's "most brilliant Lantern Festival".

Nankunshen Daitianfu Temple was built in 1662. It is the oldest and largest Wangye temple in Taiwan. The main components of the building are wood, brick and Laojhensheh stones. The outer walls of the temple are richly decorated with artworks. These artworks depict mythological animals, historic figures and military officers.

Watching the Yuanshui Fongpao which is a firecracker ceremony held in the T'ai-nan town is another one among the things to do in T'ai-nan. It is celebrated to commemorate the end of cholera. Riding a train and enjoying a ride on the Hsiaolung Culture Park is another thing that you should do in T'ai-nan. It is a 13.8 hectares of recreational area which includes a sugar factory built in 1906 and a garden having trees which are more than hundred years old.
