The coastal Region including the Dar es Salaam, Limdi, Mtwara and Tanga and the off-shore Islands of Mafia, Pemba, and Unguja is hot with comparatively high humidity. The standard temperature, which is moderated by the sea breeze, especially on the islands, ranges between 27 and 29 degree Celsius.

The central regions including the Dodoma and Singida are semi-arid and receive less than 500mm of rain over the year. In comparison, the mountainous region in the northeastern and southwestern part gets over 2000 mm of rain per annum. Alongside the coast of Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Lindi, Mtwara and Coastal Region, the rainfall varies between 1000 and 1900 mm.

The temperature irregularly drops below 15 degree Celsius. In the mountainous areas of the Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Mara region and Mbeya, Rukwa, Iringa and Ruvuma, and Makonde Plateau like Newalla, Masasi, Nachingwea and Tunduru, at night during the months of June and July, the temperature drops. The temperature can also reach as low as 8 or 6 degree Celsius in the area around Rungwe Mountains.
Weather in Tanzania: Weather in Central, Northern and Western
The climate is adapted by highland plateau around Mwanza Kagera, Kigoma, Shinyanga and Tabora. During the cooler months of June and August, there is low humidity with temperatures that ranges between 20 and 27 degree Celsius. In the months of December and March, the temperature can reach as high as 30 degree Celsius.
