Major tourist sites and attractions :Berlin is a perfect feast for all the music and theatre lovers. There is a lot to be explored in every shade of this city. The historical museums and landmarks, recreational parks, and remnants of the fierce war of the past – Berlin is fascinating from its age old history to its dynamic present.
- Bauhaus Archive/Museum fur Gestaltung: A huge collection of contemporary design and architecture, Bauhaus Archive/Museum fur Gestaltung was founded by an architect from Berlin, Walter Gropius. The museum remains open from 10 am to 5 pm.
- Berliner Zoo & Aquarium: Located in the Southwest of Tiergarten, this is the oldest zoo of Germany. Today there are more than 14,000 animals of 1,500 species are found in this zoological garden. The main attractions of this zoo include animals like orang-utans, rhinos, penguins, giraffes, zebras, elephants and Bao Bao. Beside the zoo there is a large tri floored aquarium where you can find fish, amphibians, insects and reptiles such as crocodile, poison frogs, octopuses and 'Nemo' or clownfish.
- Brandenburger Tor: This landmark stands as an evidence of division during cold war. The huge wall which existed here was brought down after Ronald Reagan, the then US president, uttered these words “Mr. Gorbachev - tear down this wall.”
- Deutsches Technikmuseum: A visit to this enormous museum requires a dedication of one whole day of your trip. There are 14 departments displaying technologies from ancient to modern ages. You would find models describing their technical aspects of printing machines, transport systems, computers and even interactive stations. The museum remain open from 9 am to 5.30 pm
- Gemaldegalerie: What best place could be for you if you are an art lover? Gemaldegalerie is the best Kulturforum museum of Berlin. With more than 1300 European paintings displayed from 13th to 18th centuries this museum was established in 1998. You can visit this nuseum between 10 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
- Judisches Museum: This is the largest Jews museum in Europe reflecting art, culture, science and architectural achievements of the German Jews. It not only displays history of the Jews under the Nazi rule, but also far beyond it. The museum’s architecture is an astonishing work of art with zinc clad walls and zigzag grounds. The museum’s working hour is from 10 am to 8 pm from Tuesdays to Sundays and to 10 pm on Mondays.
- Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtniskirche: More famous as the “Hollow Tooth” in Berlin, this church poignantly reminds us the annihilating World War II. Bombed by British in 1943 only left this church with a devastating memory and a broken west tower. A memorial hall adorned in golden mosaics and midnight blue glass cubed walls, would make you feel like being inside a colossal crystal at Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche.
- Pergamon Museum: The museum has a collection of classical antiques, near eastern antiques and Islamic art of the Greek, Romans, Babylonians, Muslims and also people of the Middle East.
- Reichstag: The panoramic view from the top of Reichstag is one of the primary attractions of Berlin trip. It remains open from 8 am to 12 am. So make sure you pay a visit to this place while on a trip to Berlin. You would also find remnants of the past here.
