The Big Island the local name of the island of Hawaii covers almost 62% of Hawaiian Islands. With deserts, rainforests, volcanoes and, snow-capped mountains, geographically it is the most diverse island of the archipelago. The barrier created by mountains blocks the northeasterly trade winds, making the western side of the island the driest region in the archipelago. This coast has the best beaches, pounding surf, tropical rainforests, and majestic waterfalls.
