The Atlas Mountains guards the city like a protective father, at the same time providing the travelers something more to look forward to while in the desert city. Etymologically, the name Marrakesh has its origin from the Berberic term mur and akuch, signifying the land of the God. The people living in the land where God resides welcomes the visitor with open arms.
The mysticism is best revealed in the Jamaa El Fna, with snake charmers, folk artists and the sound of drums beating filling the air. There are other sights and sounds to leave you with a sense of wonder and appreciation of the imperial city.
