Elvis Presley, Blues, Mud Island and Sunset Symphony…….there is one thing that’s common with all four, Memphis. The birthplace of the blues and the witness to the likes of B.B. King and W.C. Handy, Memphis is the proud city in the American state of Tennessee. Situated beside the Mississippi River and surrounded by the Arkansas, Memphis occupies considerable area on the south west part of the American state, Tennessee.
Travel to Memphis for the visitors can be quite confusing in the beginning. Memphis is not one of those perfectly planned cities. But nevertheless, when you are in this extremely musical city then the one and the only thing that comes in your mind is having a look at the Sun Studio, the Graceland and the legendary Gibson Beale Street.
Where on one hand East Memphis has become the seat of cultural and business growth, the downtown area is comparatively compact. The city is divided into Downtown, Midtown and East Memphis regions. Downtown, the oldest part is the most important entertainment zone of Memphis. Midtown is a more of a residential region, with the Overton Park which houses the Memphis Zoo and aquarium. Lastly, East Memphis is an important business center with up market malls and multilane highways.
