Geography: the Mexico City is located in the Valley of Mexico at an altitude of 2,240 m above sea level. It is surrounded by volcanoes on almost all the sides. The foundation of the city was laid on the beds of many lakes.

History: The original inhabitants of the region around the Valley of Mexico were the Mestizos and Criollos. This was as early as 10, 000 BC. The Aztecs lived in the region from 1325. The War of Independence in 1810 which resulted in the independence of the country of Mexico has great historic significance. The thirty years of dictatorship of the Frenchman Porfirio Diaz and the Mexican Revolution also had there effect on the city.
Economy: Being an important financial center of the Latin American region, Mexico City accounts for 25% of the country’s economy. The Mexico City has the 30th largest economy amongst all the cities of the world. The standard of living in Mexico City is higher than what it is in the other Latin American cities with more than 50% of the inhabitants having internet connections and mobile connections. The vehicle industry is growing at a very fast pace.

Transport System: you can travel to Mexico City by air to the Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juarez, the only airport hosting passenger flights from various cities in Canada and the US. You can also take the buses from other important cities in Mexico. Traveling in Mexico City is also very comfortable with taxi, public buses and the underground railways or the metro railways.
Administration and Government: Cuahtemoc Cardenas was the first elected head of the government in the year 1988. The administration of the Mexico City comes under the federal government of Mexico. So, the President of the country elects the Mayor or the Regent. The Mayor in turn appoints the executives and forms the government. There are 16 administrative districts in Mexico City. At present the Mayor is Alejandro Eucinas.
Society and Cultural Life: the Mexico City is a very important center of culture in the Latin American continent. Around 60% of the population is mestizos and 30% are Amerindians. The festive season comes in with Christmas and Día de los Reyes Magos or the Three Kings' Day when the city is decorated like a bride. Another important cultural event is the Festival del Centro Histórico, the festival of dance and music. Other festivals and events are Día del Trabajo or the Labor Day, Cinco de Mayo, celebrating victory over the French, Día de la Independencia, celebrating the War of Independence, Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who is an important religious icon.
Educational Institutions: There are many public schools in the city. The oldest university of North America, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, is in Mexico City. The other universities are National Polytechnic Institute Metropolitan Autonomous University Alliant International University and the Universidad La Salle.
