El Tucuche Reserve or Northern Sanctuary, El Tucuche is the second highest peak with a height of 3,072 ft. The forests have interesting flora and fauna such as the Giant Bromeliad, and exotic orchids like the orange-Billed Nightingale and the Thrush. Valencia Wildlife Sanctuary is another important Nature Reserves in Trinidad and Tobago. It covers an area of 6,881 acres. There are at least 50 species of birds including antbirds and tanagers. Deer, wild pigs, agouti, tatoo, and iguana roam this area. This nature reserve is easily accessible by roads and guides can also be hired.

Asa Wright Nature Centre and Lodge is a study and conservation centre. This place retains some of its plantation history by the coffee, cocoa and citrus that is still found there. It has the only easily accessible colony of oil-birds and boasts of a rich bird life which includes the Ruby-topaz humming-bird and the tufted coquette. Guided tours are provided through the centre and to other reserves.

Caroni Bird Sanctuary is the third largest swamp in Trinidad and at least 138 species of birds inhabit it. Bush Wildlife Reserve is a yet another important place which encompasses the hard-wood forest and rich, varied, fauna. The Red Howler Monkey and the Weeping Capuchin are among the more than 57 species of mammals that live here. The Savannah Hawk and the Red breasted blackbird, reptiles and fish are also found here. This place can only be accessed by boat.
