There are two slender minarets which rise to the height of 25 meters or 82 feet. They are made of Italian marble.

Bourquiba Mosque

The Bourquiba Mosque in Rue de l'Indépendance is one of the important places to visit in Monastir. It features an octagonal minaret that rises to the height of 41 meters or 135 feet. This mosque was constructed in 1963 by Taieb Bouzguenda and is based on the style of the Hammouda Pacha Mosque, Tunisia. More than a thousand people can worship in the prayer hall of the mosque.

Cemetery

In the northwest of Ribat, Monastir is an extensive cemetery. One of the most important tombs to take note of, is the 12th Century tomb of Sidi el Mazeri.

Great Mosque

This is another place of sightseeing in Monastir, which is located to the south of Ribat, Monastir. It was constructed in the 9th Century and was made bigger in the 11th Century by the Zirids.

Ksar Hellal

Ksar Hellal is a small industrial town which manufactures textiles. It has now merged with Moknine. The town exhibits fabrics and several costumes.

Folk Museum

What used to be the Sidi Babana mosque in Moknine, is now a Folk Museum. You will see several folk art exhibits, as well as an instance of “tube vaulting,” which is found at Bulla Regia.

Saida Mosque

Sidi Dhouib Ribat

This is a small ribat or fortification, which is located between Medina and the Great Mosque. The ground floor of this ribat has been rebuilt.
