Turkey's different regions are characterized by a diverse Weather in Turkey. The Weather in Turkey on the coasts is different with that existing in the interior. Turkey is situated in a geographical location where climatic conditions are quite moderate, the diverse nature of the land and the mountains that run parallel to the coasts. The climate of the Anti Taurus Mountain region of eastern Turkey can be severe. Weather in Turkey in summers tend to be hot and extremely dry. Winters are bitterly cold with normal and heavy snowfall. The villages can be secluded for several days during winter storms. Spring and autumn are usually soft but during both the season sudden hot and cold spells often occur.

The Weather in Turkey includes rainy winters and hot, fairly dry summers in Aegean and Mediterranean coasts are cool. Yearly rain in those areas varies from 580 to 1,300 millimeters, depending on the locality. Normally, rainfall is less to the eastern part. The Black Sea coast receives the maximum amount of rainfall. The eastern part of that coast averages 1,400 millimeters yearly and is the only region of Turkey that receives rainfall all over the year.

Winters on the plateau are especially harsh. The temperatures can reach -30degree C to -40 degree C in the mountainous regions in the east and snow fall may occur for 120 days of the year.

The driest regions in Turkey are the Konya Ovasi and the Malatya Ovasi. There the annual rainfall often is less than 300 millimeters. The wettest month is generally May and the driest month is July and August.
