Teleferico (El), Caracas

This is a cable car ride from Caracas to the Avila Mountain. It takes just 15 minutes for a complete ride. The ride enables one see the Caribbean Sea on one side while watching Caracas on the other side. The view is unbelievably beautiful and gives one the feeling of sailing along with the clouds. To experience the ride one has to brave severe rush. As weekends are packed so one must prefer going up during the week.

Parque Los Chorros, Caracas

Parque Los Chorros is 4.5 hectares of nature reserve. Located at the foot of Caracas Avila Mountain, it has the only natural waterfall in a capital city park. The landscape spans several levels. One has to descend more than 100 steps, tunnels, bridges and benches in order to view large trees, mountain springs and lush green vegetation. As a perfect place for the nature lovers, this place must be included in one’s itinerary.

Basilica de Santa Teresa

This architectural complex consists of 2 churches. They are Santa Teresa and Santa Ana. The Church of Saint Theresa was declared a Basilica by Pope Paul VI. It is the best known and visited of the twin churches. This is because El Nazareno de San Pablo is venerated inside the Church. The Basilica also houses certain very valuable colonial objects.

Monumento a Los Simbolos

The Monumento a Los Simbolos is a marble pedestal, upon which three figures are built to represent the shield, the flag and the national anthem of Venezuela. The shield dates from 1836. The flag was flown for the first time in 1806 by Francisco de Miranda, before the Independence. The national anthem “Glory to the Brave People,” composed immediately after the Independence in the 1820s, was declared the official national anthem in 1881.

Biblioteca Nacional (La)

This is a library with extensive book collections. It boasts of information services, publications, reproduction facilities, audio-visuals, old documents and maps. The library also organizes talks.
