Christmas in Venezuela means a festive mood and chilling experience and loads of fun. “Noche Buena” the French name for the Christmas Eve, the main celebration takes place on this date. Venezuela gets decorated as a bride and everyone including the tourists, who specially come to witness this gala celebration, take dives into the ocean of fun and frolic.

Much before the “Noche Buena” as in from the 16th of December the preparations and pre Christmas rituals starts. From 16th onwards starts the “alled Misa de Aguinaldo” in English the morning mass. The morning mass is observed till 24th of December. The main celebration starts on the Christmas Eve, when families get together cook and enjoy the traditional meal which includes:

  • Hallacas
  • Pan de jamón
  • Dulce de lechoza
“Dulce de lechoza” is dessert and so considered as the concluding item.

Putting up Christmas tree is a must; generally kids spend most of their time in decorating and playing around the Christmas tree. One can also witness most amazing decorations in the whole Venezuela, roads, shops, streets and house.

On December 25th kids wake up early to find out what their Santa has kept for them. They start their day with opening up their surprise gifts.
