There is some thing unique about the weather in Venezuela. Like its varied culture and rich history, Venezuela has a variable weather. Though the country lies wholly within the tropics, the climate of the country is variable and ranges from tropical humid to alpine one. The climate of Venezuela varies in different parts depending on various factors affecting the weather. These factors are the elevation and the topography of the country along wit the direction and intensity of the winds.

The change in the weather of Venezuela is more influenced by rainfall and less by temperature. In most parts of the country, you would find distinct rainy season that begins in May and continues till November. This rainy season is generally referred to as winter and the season in rest of the year is regarded as summer.

There are four temperature zones in the country affecting largely the weather condition in Venezuela and all these are based primarily on elevation. Thus you would find a tropical zone which affects the temperature of the places below 800 meters. In these places you would find hot weather condition prevailing almost throughout the year with the average temperature ranging between 26° C and 28° C.

In Places elevated between 800 meters and 2,000 meters the temperature is between 12° C to 25° C. You would find many of Venezuela’s important cities including the capital of Venezuela lying within this comfortable region. Much cooler condition prevails in the areas between 2,000 and 3,000 meters. Here the temperature ranges between 9° C to 11° C. You would find the pastureland and permanent snowfields in the lands which are above 3000 meters. Here the temperature averages below 8° C.

When we talk about the yearly rainfall affecting the weather of Venezuela then you would find that the lowlands and the plains witnesses a rainfall of 430 millimeters and in the western part of the Caribbean coast to Orinoco Delta you would witness rainfall of about 1,000 millimeters. In the mountainous areas of Venezuela you would find the weather condition to be less rainy and the sheltered valleys receive much less rainfall. However, the slopes which receive northeast trade winds witness heavy rainfall.
