The Food of Vietnam is a blend of Chinese, French and some Thai influence. The food served has many uncooked vegetables served like salads and pickles. Fresh herbs and spices like basil, min , coriander, ginger, garlic and chili peppers are used to make the Food of Vietnam unique.

The Food of Vietnam varies from region to region. The cooking methods adopted include braising, simmering, steaming, stir-frying and grilling. There is very little use of oil or no oil at all while cooking. In the north of the country, black pepper is the main ingredient for seasoning. Dishes which are stir-fried are made as the place has many Chinese. In the center of the county, the food prepared is hot and spicy. A wide variety o f vegetable, fruits, sugar and spices are used in the southern Vietnam. One can also find French influence throughout the country, mainly in the South, and white potatoes, asparagus and French baguette are very much used.

People of Vietnam consider food to be an art and they take their preparation seriously. There are some food which can be found throughout the length and breadth of the country. The Pho or beef noodle soup, a fast food, can be savored in Saigon, Danang, Hue as well as Haiphong. Another food that can be found in Vietnam are the gio lua or pork sausages, nem ran or spring rolls and Cha ca or fish balls. Another important thing about Food of Vietnam is that seafood is found in plenty, across the country. There are dishes of crabs, squids, shrimp, mussels as well as different variety of fish and lobster. These are caught from the Vietnam's coast as and also the rivers. Wherever you go, one gets fish sauce or nouc mam on every table instead of Soy sauce as found in Chinese eatery.

Another important stuff that can be found with every Food of Vietnam is a tray of herbs and fresh vegetables. Sliced cucumbers, coriander, hot peppers, bean threads, basil and other herbs can always be found on the table. Visitors leave the country with a delightful experience of the magic of the Food of Vietnam - exotic with the wide use of chilly pepper, different preparations of noodles and the succulent fruits like lychees or sour sop.
