As the chief Airport in Hue, the Phu Bai Airport is said to be upgraded to have 2,800 kilometers of 45 meters wide runway with lights to serve the night flights. In May 24, 2007, the Changi Airports International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the People's Committee of Thua Thien for the development of Phu Bai International Airport. The Phu Bai airport fields daily flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Hue.
