Hon Chong Headland, Nha Trang can be considered as one of the most well known and most frequently visited Tourist Attractions in Nha Trang. Hon Chong Headland, Nha Trang is tucked away on a stretch of rocky mass of land of immense beauty due to the presence of the thousands of smooth rocks stacking on one another. And, it is interesting to note that the word 'Chong' means 'to stack' in the Vietnamese language. And, it also means 'husband'. Hon Chong Headland is also known as the Hon Chong Promontory where hundreds of boulders are balanced on top of one another.
Coming here, you will find here two clusters of piled up rocks in the area and this is known as Hon Chong. The first one is further out in the ocean and the second is located near an islet which is known as Sat Thon. The cluster that you see in the ocean, is the most impressive of al as there are large boulders stacking on one another. Although, these boulders appear out-of-balance, but they remain absolutely stable. You will find here a boulder as large as a small hill supporting another boulder as large as a small house at its peak. On the side facing the shore, you will find a unique piece of rock formed in the shape of an imprint of a large hand with five fingers clearly outlined. You will find here various legends associated with this boulder. The local people call this rock 'Hon Chong' which means the Husband.
Nearby, you will find a cluster with the name 'Hon Vo' or the Wife. The rocks in Hon Vo cluster are as large as those in Hon Chong, but here, they are closer together. A somewhat romantic explanation regarding the etymology is that this name came about because the rocks here are cuddled against one another. You will find the Hon Chong Headland, Nha Trang to the northeast of the Cham Towers. Many of the look-outs here feature refreshment stalls which are set around by the local people.
