Bac Ha, Sa Pa nestled in the verdant cliffs of Vietnam, is a colorful travel destination in the country. Characterized by green terraces and mountain ranges, the town of Bac Ha is located approximately 40 kilometers from Sa Pa and is famous for its weekly Sunday Market which manages to attract locals and tourists. The best day to visit as mentioned above, is on a Sunday when ethnic groups from across the valleys trek down to the market to sell their locally made products. You can also buy handicraft items made by Montagnard groups which include tribes such as Flower Hmong, Dzao, Glay (Nhang), Han (Hoa), Xa Fang, Lachi, Nung, Phula, Thai and Thulao.
One can buy a range of items like colorful clothing items and house ware items. Food stalls are also installed at the marketplace allowing you to sample the local delicacies mainly spicy meat preparations. If one loves sampling local cuisines, head for the stalls selling locally-made alcohol drinks which are a huge favorite among the locals.
But if you like peaceful ambience then head for the town of Bac Ha during the weekdays. Located around 700 meters above sea level, Bac Ha is visited by family vacationers too who will enjoy the climatic conditions as compared to other Vietnam regions.
