Washington DC is the capital of the United States of America. The suffix of “DC” that accompanies the main name is an abbreviation of ‘District of Columbia’. Though a different entity altogether, today Dc and the city of Washington not just have the same boundaries but also administration. The city of Washington is christened after the nation’s hero, George Washington, who not just led the military actions during the American Revolution, but was also the first American President.
