The growth of the official Airlines of Argentina dates back to the year 1929 when Aeroposta was the only airlines that was operating in Argentina and Argentinean government became aware of the huge geographic area of the country founded an airlines company to provide speedy transportation links between the countryside and the larger cities and the Aeroposta initially began its operations by serving the two destinations of Mendoza and Posadas and Posadas. Frenchmen Jean Mermoz and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry were the first pilots who worked for this airline. Two more airlines, LASO and LANE also started operating the air routes of Argentina by the year of 1930 and it was only in 1945 both LASO and LANE were merged together and became LADE and in 1949, the first intercontinental airline of Argentina, FAMA came into existence. Finally in the year of 1949, all these airlines merged together to give rise to the first official Airlines of Argentina under the name of Aerolíneas Argentinas.

The official Airlines of Argentina is also the major sponsor of the Argentina national football team and it also the longest serving operator of the Boeing 737-200 in the world. Aerolíneas Argentinas or the official Airlines of Argentina is also considered as one safest airline not only in Latin America but also in the world.
