Getting to Indonesia by boat is also possible from Singapore and Malaysia. There are 21 seaports in Indonesia. In Malaysia you can take a ferry from Penang to Medan, located in the northern region of Sumatra. There are many ports in Sumatra where the ferries from Singapore and Malaysia arrive. From Singapore you can take a ferry to Batam and Bintan, islands located near Sumatra.

Bus, Car and Train
The only land border crossing possible in Indonesia is at the location of West Kalimantan and Sarawak through Malaysia.
