identifying and naming plants of the Flora Zambesiaca Region which consists of Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana and the Caprivi.
The Botanic Garden nurtures more than 900 trees and shrubs that are found in Zimbabwe. The collection is grouped according to the region of their origin. It has sections containing trees of the Lowveld, Highveld and Eastern Highlands. Currently there are a number of trees from other continents growing in the Boatanical Gardens. These plants are from the regions that have climatic conditions similar to Zimbabwe such as Asia and Australia.
